A Legacy of Perseverance
Three generations of Passarelli’s have called Humboldt Street home.
It is where the family put down roots, built relationships, worked hard, and became part of the fabric of Brooklyn.
Inspired by that connection, this scholarship gives back to the community that gave the family a place to put down roots and build a future, creating new opportunities for others to do the same.
The values behind this scholarship were shaped long before the scholarship itself existed.
The Passarelli family has always believed in standing up for community and taking action to help others.
At the heart of that legacy is Pasqualle Passarelli, a World War II veteran.
His generation understood sacrifice, perseverance, and the importance of doing something for a future they might never see themselves.
The Humboldt Street Scholarship is one way we hope to carry those values forward.
Humboldt Street is more than a street, it is a reflection of the energy, character, and diversity that make Brooklyn unique.
Connecting authentic history, cultures, traditions, and voices from Greenpoint, Williamsburg, East Williamsburg, and Bushwick each shaped by generations of New Yorkers who represent the spirit of Brooklyn.
